Muddy dog paw being cleaned in grey silicone paw cleaner cup

Why We Added a Dog Paw Cleaner (And What Makes a Good One)

Muddy paws after a walk are one of those small daily frustrations that adds up fast — especially if you have a dog that moves fast or a house with light floors.

We looked at a few different solutions before adding the Paw Cleaner Cup to Sowth. Here's what we found and why we went with what we did.

The problem with most solutions

Towels miss the spaces between toes. Wipes work but get expensive and create waste. Full baths are overkill for a muddy paw. What you actually want is something quick, effective, and easy to use at the door before your dog wanders through the house.

What makes a paw cleaner actually work

The silicone bristle design matters. Soft bristles that reach between the toes clean better than flat-bottomed cups with no texture. The opening also needs to be wide enough for your dog's paw to fit comfortably — too narrow and they resist it, too wide and water splashes everywhere.

Portability is a bonus. If you can take it on hikes or trips, it earns its spot even more.

What we carry

Our Dog Paw Cleaner Cup has soft silicone bristles on the inside, comes in three sizes (S, M and L), and has a leak-resistant lid so you can travel with it. Add a small amount of water, dip the paw, twist gently, done. Takes about 10 seconds per paw.

It's one of those products that sounds minor until you use it every day. Then it becomes the thing you didn't know you needed.
